To my mind where the problem with Marx is obvious is in his attitude to the underlying resource base, something that did not (apparently) concern most of those more intimately concerned with immediately post Industrial Revolution politics. Schumacher was not and understood that sustainability must be the main concern as it informs all other aspects of our eco-nomy, however Marx is still relevant re: his social theory, now-a-days though "intersectionalities" are studied in preference to class-consciousness..& the better for it.. Nb. Intersectional analysis does not in any way preclude the study & awareness of social inequalities, in-fact the more populated demographic gives more flexibility and accuracy to the analysis.
