BBC presenter Katty Kay has caused outrage by referring to the skirmish in Gaza as a “genocide”, just because that’s what it is, according to both the dictionary and international law.

Kay is one of the BBC’s most prominent journalists in the US and a regular on MS NOW’s Morning Joe. In a disgraceful outburst of antisemitism, she said the following:

“I know there is so much anger in the Democratic Party, understandably, and about what has happened in Gaza and Israel, and the government of Netanyahu’s response to that, and the genocide that is being committed there.”

Kay made the disgraceful comment on her own podcast The Rest Is Politics: US, and BBC bosses naturally felt the need to rebuke her.

A listener complained to the BBC that Kay had presented a “contested characterisation” as fact. I’d like to reassure Zionists that if Kay had said this is not a genocide, she would not be in trouble. She just got this one the wrong away around.

Thankfully, the BBC has strict impartiality guidelines that recognise Israel’s genocide pass and it was quick to issue a grovelling apology. A spokesperson said the following:

“We would like to unreservedly apologise to the only democracy in the Middle East for our presenter’s legally correct opinion that she expressed on her own podcast that was absolutely nothing to do with us. BBC guidelines clearly state that our presenters must never be this accurate with their words. Katty Kay has failed to uphold them.

“For example, rule 1.2 states that telling the truth about Israel is a sackable offence. I’m unclear why this is not rule 1.1 and I’m deeply sorry for any offence caused.

“Furthermore, rule 1.6 states that we can only use words like ‘genocide’ when talking about bad countries like Russia or China—and rule 3.9 states that we must never follow the legal or technical definitions of words, and should instead use them in ambiguous ways. Clarity about Israel is antisemitic.

“We at the BBC would like to send our warmest regards to the Netanyahu family and everyone who supports their brave mission in Gaza. We have offered them an undisclosed compensation sum and are making plans to publicly flog Kay for her comments.

“Understandably, the Israeli government has highlighted deep concerns over the matter. It has explained that if the flogging is not satisfactory, the IDF will blow up Kay’s entire neighbourhood and BBC HQ. We fully support whatever action it chooses to take. Israel has every right to defend itself from the truth.”
