The US military has completed its withdrawal from Erbil Air Base in Iraq, finally ending Operation Inherent Resolve. The official line is that it’s job done, but the truth is that US bases are sitting ducks for Iranian drones and missiles.
Officially, seven of the American casualties from the Iran war were killed in Iraq, but the true figure is probably higher. US bases have been bombarded since the conflict began, forcing emergency evacuations. Damage to diplomatic facilities alone has totalled $157 million. It just isn’t safe for Americans to stick around anymore.
Make no mistake, the US is being driven out of the Middle East—and this is a good thing. We’ve had a quarter century of death and destruction, based on Zionist lies. Let’s look at the tape from the run-up to the war:
In September 2002, Benjamin Netanyahu testified before the US Congress. His pitch? “If you take out Saddam’s regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations.” He promised a democratic domino effect that would stabilise the Middle East.
In February 2003, Jeremy Corbyn stood at a rally in Hyde Park and predicted what would happen instead. He warned that an invasion would “set off a spiral of conflict, of hate, of misery, of desperation, that will fuel the wars... and the misery of future generations.”
Two decades later, it’s glaringly obvious who was closer to reality.
The playbook was to pretend Saddam had WMDs, claim he was mates with Bin Laden, convince the public the war would be a straightforward liberation, and promise Iraqi oil would pay for the whole thing.
When we found out there were no WMDs or 9/11 link, the war mongers doubled down on the “democracy” lie and plundered Iraq while the region burned.
The wreckage of the post-9/11 wars is staggering:
Total financial costs are estimated to hit an eye-watering $8 trillion—money that went mostly to arms manufacturers. Over 7,000 US troops lost their lives, but they didn’t die for their country—they killed for the Greater Israel Project. The Iraqis are the real victims here. Casualty estimates range from hundreds of thousands to over a million dead.
Predictably, “liberation” turned into state collapse, looting, and a brutal 23-year quagmire. Cities were left in ruins and millions were displaced. The Iraqi army was disbanded, leaving hundreds of thousands of armed, jobless men in a power vacuum. Score-settling, looting, and insurgency followed.
Geopolitically, the war achieved the exact opposite of its goals. By taking out Saddam, the West removed Iran’s biggest regional rival. The Iraq war made Iran stronger—and now the Iran war is doing the same. These geniuses just don’t learn.
The Iraq invasion created the perfect breeding ground for terrorism. This self-inflicted problem was the excuse for the prolonged presence, but the message was hopelessly incoherent.
One minute they were telling us the mission was to eliminate jihadists. The next they were saying the terrorists were on their side, and arming and training them in Syria. Today, Al Qaida and ISIS fight for Saudi Arabia in Yemen—and Israel treats injured terrorists in its hospitals. Contrast this with how it doesn’t let Palestinian kids have anaesthetic for amputations.
Iraq is now a fragile, corrupt petro-state and the Middle East is more volatile than ever, but at least the arms manufacturers got their money. Trillions of dollars were wasted and countless were lives lost were for the Greater Israel Project. Every promise Zionists made turned out to be a lie, so we must ask why the hell are we helping them bomb Iran? And how many more people have to die before we say enough?
