BREAKING: The far left has landed.
Green Party passes Zionism is Racism motion. 4 October 2026, Brighton.
For: 1022
Against: 813
The UK's first openly Antisemitic Party. Make no mistake this motion removes the right of the state of Israel to exist. It requires it.
I've never been more ashamed and horrified of what the party has become.
Lucas, Ramsay, Denyer, Chowns, Berry, Polanski either asleep at the wheel or trying to come off the ship they were steering. Way too little too late, they should own it.

re: the bolded part, a) I'm pretty sure it doesn't, except in the sense of opposing an apartheid ethnostate, and b) you say that like it would be a bad thing?? Still incredibly weird to see lying horsesh!t like this from the guy who opposed the GP's adoption of IHRA... Previous analysis, such as it is:

One probable scenario tomorrow is that Zionism is Racism passes and passes convincingly. The proposers are well organised, determined and well-placed to face down sabotage tactics that worked against them earlier in the year. Manipulation of that sort will be much harder to achieve at an in-person conference than it was at an online one.
Passing the motion will have a number of immediate political consequences. The Green Party will be branded, with justification, as the Antisemitic Party - hostile to Jews in wider society and within its own party (several reasonable amendments put by Jewish members were not admitted). Think Corbyn years squared.
A further consequence is significant damage to our political credibility, bleeding through to the ballot box, including the Holborn by-election next Thursday. I believe it is realisation of this liability that led Polanski to push for conference to be cancelled (so much for internal democracy) and for Lucas and Ramsay too late in the day to ventilate their concerns about the motion.
What this means is potentially existential for both the Party and Polanski. He is already being presented as a betrayer, but those arguing against the motion motivated by avoidance of negative news stories or adverse electoral impact demonstrate that their priorities lie not with anti-discrimination in all it forms. Rather they are selective and only care when it suits them and for optics alone, ie. they don't really care. The hostile environment for gender critical members is being extended to Jews of the wrong sort.
If the motion passes, this will be another sad day for the Green Party and its descent into authoritarianism. One of the biggest recurring themes of my seminar series today was how desperately menbers felt they need a space to speak freely and think aloud. It is hostility to free speech that lies at the heart of the Green Party's institutional dysfunction.
For a political party which increasingly enjoys power, this represents an actual danger to society, and danger to Jews.
The only consolation I can think of is forewarned is forearmed. Other things being equal I think it is better for us to see clearly what the party has become instead of concealing that. Transparency is an important democratic principle.

The Green Party is voting on this motion and amendments right now.
Two amendments, which would have effectively seriously diluted the impact of the motion, by entertaining more than single state options have been defeated by a significant margin. I doubt the card votes that have been called for will change those result.
Bottom line - expect a vote on the motion to proceed in about an hour's time, unamended.
I think the leadership and elders who have come out against the motion - Lucas, Ramsay, Denyer, Berry, Millward, Polanski, Chowns - are looking at a bloody nose. Too little too late.
The only amendment that has been accepted, and strongly, would reinforce the singularity of the motion.
Expect a bloody nose for our entire leadership team and MPs, bar Hannah (unclear) and Mothin, very soon.
Zionism is Racism will be official Green Party policy shortly.

He's so wrong it hurts! This will improve the GP's electoral performance, as those who are put off wouldn't have been the ones to vote Green anyway. However the leadership have shown how uncomfortable they are with it, and I expect they will try to water it down and/or go further down the Corbyn route of apologies and catering to the (claimed) hurt feelings of Jewish members etc etc. If anyone needs the space to be able to 'speak freely' within the incredibly hostile environment that has been created over this issue, it's Muslims, Arabs, and anti-zionists (including anti-zionist Jews, who I expect are over-represented in the GP). Also, is he saying he would have welcomed dirty tactics to sabotage the motion, as happened at the previous conference? Real classy guy...
jeers,
