On the morning of Oct 7 when I heard that Palestinians had broken out of Gaza and entered Israel, for a few minutes I felt joy and hope that the blockade was over. Almost immediately I realized that this was going to give Israel the excuse to rain down destruction on Gaza and all Palestinians as never before. But I never dreamed that Israel would try to implement a final solution - I should have because they've always had one goal only - to rule over all the land and have the Palestinians gone by any means possible. I also never dreamed that the world would allow this to happen and indeed that the western governments would support it and help. I never believed from day one that all the deaths inside Israel on Oct 7 were at the hands of Palestinians, or that mass rape took place. Based on what I've learned and witnessed for the past couple of decades, I believe in the basic goodness and dignity of the Palestinian people. They only want the freedom and human rights to which they are entitled. They're forced to fight for those things with no movement at all from Israel which has no intention of ever letting them live freely and have self determination.
