They are utterly abysmal though and there was some brief flicker of them potentially changing during the genocide in Gaza but that is clearly not going to happen.
Here's another example that was doing the rounds on twitter the other day; the (horrific) incident is from 2024. Beautifully exposed by RabbiJeff:
and here's the Cradle with an article on their heavy apartheid state bias (none of it being new to anyone here, I'm sure):
https://thecradle.co/articles-id/40679
An anonymous senior BBC broadcaster told The National on 21 October that the BBC has been “very compliant to Israel” in its coverage of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
“The BBC have navigated themselves into a position where you can’t use [the word genocide]. And I think that’s a mistake,” the anonymous source said.
The insider said the BBC has “listened to Israel very closely and reproduced and reported Israel’s defense arguments, which is not their role,” and has done so “even where it’s screamingly obvious, even to viewers, that what’s happening in Gaza is an international scandal.”
The insider said the BBC hides behind a pretense of neutrality to diminish Palestinian suffering, using the 7 October Hamas operation as a narrative counterweight to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, adding that the broadcaster’s staff are too afraid to speak out for fear of losing their jobs.
The National also spoke to media analysts who described a deep-rooted pattern of pro-Israel bias at the BBC, consistent with what watchdogs and campaign groups have documented in its reporting since October 2023.
Faisal Hanif of the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) cited research showing that UK media described Israeli victims in emotive terms 11 times more often than Palestinians, with a follow-up study exposing the same double standard in the BBC’s coverage of Palestinian and Israeli deaths.
Former BBC journalists told The National that their work had made them complicit in stripping Palestinians of their humanity, prompting at least one to resign, as the broadcaster capitulated to outside pressure and enforced a glaring double standard in its editorial policy.
The insider’s remarks follow a recent UN report by Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, which names the BBC as its primary example of a western media system “intrinsic to genocide.”
The report finds that the BBC obscured Israeli responsibility in 83 percent of its headlines, and that its presenters dismissed the reality of Israel’s genocide in more than 100 documented cases.
It also affirmed that the BBC erased decades of occupation and blockade by treating 7 October 2023 as the origin of the violence.
The accounts echo warnings BBC journalists have raised since the early weeks of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. In November 2023, a group of BBC staff wrote to Al Jazeera saying the corporation was distorting its Gaza coverage through omission and an uncritical acceptance of Israeli claims.
They said it reserved words like “massacre” and “atrocities” for Hamas alone while consistently humanizing Israeli victims over Palestinians.
The corporate media are complicit in the Gaza genocide.
Never forget what they did. Never forgive them for it.![]()
