In a sense Zaharova illustrates and symbolises a lot of Russia's potential. Years ago she'd probably have been sent to Siberia or killed. She's very different from old-style Russian leaders, who for a long time were too old, too slow and too unappealing. Times have changed.
Over the last couple of decades really competent people have risen to positions of power in Russia, like Putin, Lavrov and Zaharova. I think they run rings around most western leaders. It's odd. Now it's our leaders who seem second-rate and lacking in abilities.
