A good point. Those officially in support of remaining also seem to be broadly the same crowd that legitimises the me wars against non people (as they see them) for profit. And they call the disenfranchised racists collectively ? Some cheek. No doubt there are a few but by action there are more in that group that celebrates big business with Europe and long live nato orgs. Really colonialists (focused more on superiority of themselves than the inferiority of others), but the results are the same, or worse. I used to say back in oz that the only time good changes happened via parliament was when something positive coincided with economic gain for 'the people'. Obviously not often. Seems similar here- if the middle class think it will hurt their pockets, the enthusiasm dwindles. I guess it should be a surprise. The only thing is it doesn't match to my experience of positive change, from making good music, code, buildings, anything that you want improved first has to be pulled down. If you want tack-on, hodge podge you work with ms Windows, ramshackle farm buildings or open mic jams with drunk people (albeit sometimes fun..). There's a line from the bible I remembered from my read of it which fits here , it's harder for a rich man to enter heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.. Or something similar. That's because the rich are in s comfort zone. The poor are not. You don't lay on the sofa with your best duvet in the evening with nothing else to do and suddenly declare, well, I'm off up to stand outside in the rain in my underwear. Change is the enemy of the rich, which means it should be at least an ally of the poor.
