I suppose I have to choose my words carefully here, as I don't want to be misunderstood. There are some towering ironies at work here. Walker is black. Normally on the left this is seen as something rather positive in a politician, something symbolic and progressive even. So attacks on black politicians have to be worded carefully so one doesn't stray into something that could be called 'racism.' Some clever politicians even use their ethnic background to their advantage, like Obama, but there are similiar people in the UK. But none of that appears to apply when one ventures to criticise Israel of Jewish influence in British politics. Suddenly someone who's battled all their political lives against racism can be smeared as a racist by an even more powerful ethnic group, namely some British Jews, who have their own agenda which is about defending Israel's interests and crushing critics of Israel's policies. That means one can actually succeed in hanging the label of racism around the neck of a black woman activist.
