Where is your empathy Sue Archived Message

A bit of a reactionary post - you are dumping the crimes of others at the feet of someone who has killed or raped no-one. There is a war going on in Syria and for over fifteen years Islam has been demonized killing millions; through most of this Begum was a child. She has seen two of her two children die, and technically may even be a rape victim herself. The government's actions are deeply cynical: hundreds of Britons gave been allowed to return including suspected fighters, and she isn't suspected of being a fighter. She was however in the news and this makes all the difference to a home secretary with leadership prospects. Javid’s decision on Shamima Begum demeans his office "In trying to position himself as Theresa May’s successor, the home secretary is signalling to the tabloid press just how tough he is on national security and immigration. Perhaps, as a son of immigrants, he feels he has more to prove. But make no mistake, signalling is all it is. Javid is setting this up as a fight between a strong home secretary and a mushy liberal left he can portray as willing to forgive supporters of Islamic State of any crimes." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/feb/20/sajid-javid-shamima-begum-conservative-leadership Populist support is what the HS is counting on - shouldn't get any of that here, though?
