That's the thing that got me so mad about the linked article Archived Message

Whether you liked Hicks or not (I loved him also accept some bits have aged somewhat badly, but his best stuff (as Dave F linked above) is immortal) what got me so enraged about the fraud article I posted is the misrepresentation of his work (especially Oldham's ridiculously incorrent "punching down" critique) and the attempt to smother him under a tsunami of id-pol talking points. When Bill started doing this material it was revolutionary and changed stand-up forever. The wet behind the ears, middle-class "comics" in the fraud article aren't doing anything that I've seen that has anything near the weight of some of Hicks' worst stuff but HE'S the one that "not radical". I saw some of their stuff and he was doing bits about "Come Dine With Me" and "Gogglebox". How radical. That's going to smash the system. George Carlin they ain't. Of course, the entire article seems to be click-bait to push some young, fraudian friendly, on-message comics and trying to generate some outrage by attacking one of the holy cows (and to be fair I really like Kemah Bob's stuff on mental illness, the others are shitty hacks as far as I've seen) but still, you can't erase Bill Hicks' impact on stand-up no matter how woke you want to try and sound.
