    Okay... I think Gabbard 'represents' a strand of thinking inside the US military that's 'unhappy' with the rhetoric and direction of US foreign policy; a trajectory that directly impacts on the military for obvious reasons. Simply put, it's about imperial over-reach that's extremely dangerous. Only it's very difficult for the critical thinking military 'oppostion' to articulate their views publically. In this context Gabbard's voice is important.

    One has to appreciate that the US Army is something close to a state within a state. It's probably the third biggest 'economy' in the world seen in isolation. There are elements within it that are deeply uneasy about the empire's direction and the 'qaulity' of the political leadership and especially the incredibly grip the neo-con cult has over US foreign policy.
