Tom's good friend Max was agent for Union Movement candidate Walter Hesketh in the 1961 Moss Side by-election, and as such in charge of his election material: The leaflet: "..."published by Max Mosley", includes the warning: "Protect your health. There is no medical check on immigration. Tuberculosis, VD [venereal (sexually transmitted) disease] and other terrible diseases like leprosy are on the increase. According to the Gruniad Mosley's donations actually amount to £540,000: "The latest register of MPs’ interests reveals that Watson registered a donation worth £300,000 from the former boss of Formula One this month. It was made via the party to support Watson’s office as deputy leader and shadow culture secretary. That followed a £200,000 donation from Mosley last June for a similar purpose.
