Without name-dropping, I think often of our conversation with dear Sharmine Narwani when we met in Beirut last May, just as Hezbollah supporters were tearing round the streets celebrating Hezbollah's victory in the elections. Her opinion was that there would be war, one way or another, and that Hezbollah and the Resistance would prevail. It was a case of not being able to stop it, because Israel would never give up, and the Resistance would never give in, so it was better to get it over with and take the dreadful consequences. This was also just as Syria was celebrating removing the last of IS in southern Damascus, and there was a spirit of confidence and determination. btw years back we might have harboured a feeling that things would get to be so uncomfortable for the foreign settlers in occupied Palestine that they might just think it would be better to go home. By building barriers to keep the Palestinians out, they have blocked themselves in. As for whether Russia really needs them back...
