I's argue, that 'revolutions' aren't really 'won', so much as the state 'lose' them, cripled by internal and external factors; like war. The successful revolutions in Russia and Germany, bringing the Communists and Nazis to power, would never have happened without the First World War knocking the bottom out of the economy and the state.
