It often seems like we've replaced the doctrine of the devine right of Kings to rule, with something very similar, the devine right of the Prime Minister to rule like a monarch, only one that's elected. Thatcher became a regal figure, as did Blair, her spawn. With power concentrated in the hands of the PM to an extraordinary degree and at the expensive of parliament which almost became a mere rubber stamp. One would think people would be concerned about this clear development and all the obvious dangers linked to it.
