Re: Only "since Chris Williamson"? What about his throwing Jackie Walker under a bus in Oct '16? Archived Message

In general, this is an interesting discussion, mainly about Brexit and Tom Watson, between Michael Walker of Novara Media and Richard Seymour.

However, I was struck both by how unprincipled and politically naive Michael Walker's take on the Labour Party and antisemtism was. He wants party members to only say things that are 'safe' to say and for the leadership to guide members with regard to how to talk about Israel. In Walker's view, members shouldn't talk about things like the Israel Lobby, as it isn't 'safe' to do so. Chris Williamson wasn't specifically mentioned.

The relevant bit starts at about 47.48 when Walker asks Seymour where the leadership is with members at the moment.

Bearing in mind that this is as good as pro-Corbyn media gets and Aaron Bastani and Ash Sarkar seem -as far as I can tell from Twitter comments - to share Walker's position, this is depressing. It's hard not to feel that they are mindful of the prospect of missing out on slots on Sky and the BBC if they say something that isn't 'safe'.
