Sources said last night that Mr Corbyn is becoming ‘tired and fed up’ in the role, and is looking to leave as he nears his 70th birthday in May. Speaking to The Standard, one member of the shadow cabinet said that those closest to the leader are of the view he would like to hand over his socialist project. The source said: ‘He’s tired and fed up.’ Another added: ‘Corbyn is ready to step down. He wants to step down.’ However, this morning, a futher Labour source denied that Corbyn is looking to step down – claiming ‘somebody has been eating too much cheese’. They said: ‘Somebody has been eating too much cheese, or something harder. His diary is packed full. He does a lot more late nights than early mornings: meetings, engagements, receptions.
