Personally when doing outdoor big stuff I use feet and inches because its bodily based and easy to roughly estimate. On working with finer stuff I tend to use centimetres. Weights in my life like most peoples I suspect are all to do with cooking and baking. Here I don't use any at all: just eye estimates and touch and taste confirmation that the mix is right. The idea of weighing everything seems to me like some a kind of fetishistic palaver designed to deliberately double the length of time required & destroy the spontaneous joy of cooking & baking. "Measuring cooks" watching this shake their heads and begin to cross themselves like good Catholics being drawn over the doorjam into a Voodoo ceremony. In terms of trade though, reverting to pounds & ounces is just pointless.
