    Thanks margo, the bit about stereotyping being normalised instead of rallied against is the issue that makes me think how quickly we lost such small gains in general equality, and I guess makes me suspicious of the movement (as opposed to individuals within it).

    I believe these days I'm in a minority trying to raise my kids without stereotyping behaviour, a losing battle anyway given the way the rest of our society manages to bring things back 'on message'. I guess it has the added bonus of polarising behaviours in kids who aren't trans (the vast majority), to traditional (?) behaviours for their gender, because kids are as impressionable as the rest of us. That's a shame- my favourite women and men are always those who buck stereotypes. I think it's because you know you're not looking at someone bound by the society they live in.
