This article was in AHT a few days ago, and confirms what I've felt from the start about the "end of the caliphate" and the weeks of pretence over the "village of Baghouz" - where 35000 people came out of a hole in the ground, but we never saw any IS terrorists, alive or dead, or being held by the US coaliton special forces who we never saw either. Whether the fighters went out into Iraq through the tunnel system, or were picked up directly at night by US choppers and ferried to Al Tanf or to trucks to take them to Al Tanf.... who knows. But with all this I never guessed the plan to use IS again as a Trojan horse so that the SDF could take over more territory. VB's report on the UK column confirmed the almost Syrian resignation to this monstrous scheme, which when it comes down to it, they are unable to do much about. Increasingly there is no way that the West can ever compensate for its lies and crimes, nor can the Western public ever understand what they have done. As I said a while back, it's not "why are we the good guys?" but "Why we are the BAD guys". |
