one to indulge in silly fantasies without there being any immediate hell to pay for the indulger. That would be a consequence of growing up with an excessive amount of safe-space in one's experience: "There, there, dear! Of course you can be that if you want to! You're allowed to be anything you want, chuck." Watching the society in which I actually live, I see great crowds of people who are similarly shielded from the harsher whips of reality because of being insulated, protectively-padded if you like, by over-prosperity - a common, if strictly transient, experience of the entire global Pampered Twenty Percent of humankind just at the moment. It's being insulated from the harsh consequences of silly ideas, by the over-comfortable lifestyles of the PTP, that makes the artificially-cultivated growth of such inherently ridiculous ideas as gender-as-lifestylestyle-choice possible. Naturally, that still leaves the small, genuinely gender-dysphoric minority in their real pickle. I've known such genuine dysphorics, brave, struggling souls, each of them, and I can testify that it's a tough fate for them. Not to be scoffed away.
