Lots of people find it extremely hard work to get into an elite university, where one, supposedly gets an elite education (which, up to a point is true) and perhaps even more importantly one can rub shoulders with people from an elite background and can even, if one is really 'attractive' and clever, end up joining the elite, by a process of socialisation, almost like becoming a member of the Hell's Angels!
So one becomes a member of the elite and therefore one accepts, mimics, changes, and internalises their elite values and world-view... 'naturally.' Then, as a journalist, one becomes an elite and privileged journalist with a high status career and a chance to earn some serious money, which all goes to re-inforce one's position within the elite and their worldview. Obviously, after having spent so much time and effort one doesn't question the very political culture that has given one so much in return for not questioning it in any meaningful way.
