Not so long ago one would have expected the Guardian to give space to those attempting to defend Assange, like Craig Murray, as fundamental and core liberal values are at stake here, not so today. Those spaces that existed within the mainstream media, for a few decades after WW2, have now been closed down and opposition voices exiled to a kind of inteternal... Siberia. There's an irony here, that about the only place where our dissenters are given a platform is confined to the Russian supported channel RT! Doesn't the Guardian find this a bit odd, a bit troubling, probably not; because to even acknowledge that much, would be to accept that there's a problem with our 'free' jounalism and democracy. That the Foreign Secretary can attack a news platform like RT, without a word of criticism or scrutiny from the rest of the medai; without him producing a scrap of evidence for his wildly rhetorical and inflamatory rantings aimed at news stories he doesn't approve of; is extremely troubling.
