Hunt is merely positioning himself at the 'centre-right' for the coming election for leadership of the Conservative Party, the person who'll probably become PM. Having this 'media freedom drive' will help out. Clooney believes, like so many people like her, in 'the art of the possible.' Influence, moving things forward, doesn't come from openly revealing the levers of power in society, but by gently putting one's hands on them. Small steps, but in the right direction. Only we're moving in another direction completely. The irony is that the 'free media' has, arguably, never been under such a threat, in so-called free societies, as the role of the media as a 'church' inhabited by a journalistic 'priesthood' loses its grip on the population and the 'Truth.' In this context, Assange is a 'heretic.' Why is he hated so much? Not just for his 'heresy', but also because his actions and ideas hold up a mirror that reflects an image, a truthful one, of their own lives and failures to prove themselves worthy, the colossal hypocrisy and willingness to serve, not the truth or the people, but power.
