Yes, excellent from Cook as usual. I had forgotten that the Guardian had described the UN ruling on Assange's detention as a “publicity stunt”. No depths too low for these people. Also, that is a very useful litany of legal fraud he has compiled. And its suppression by the media highlights the journalistic fraud that enables it. I completely agree with him that the western journalists who perpetrated it and helped nail Assange to the cross know they will never go to jail despite their feigned concern that they too are vulnerable to such persecution. As Cook says, this is all about optics. They know where their real commitments lie, and they know that the state knows. They are like a lapdog baring it's little teeth and growling at its master, who smiles and says: "Ooh, you're such a scary boy! I see I'd better behave!" as he pats it on the head.
