The logic is that the vile criminal thugs of the empire are determined to get him and destroy him one way or another, precisely for exposing to the world their vile criminal thuggery. And they know that the path to rendering him directly into the continental-US gulag, with its already thoroughly corrupted kangaroo-court legal charade, is not necessarily fool-proof. That wretched nuisance thing 'due process of law' is getting in the way right now, and could yet foil their plans. But - regarding Belmarsh as being one node of DCSwampland's worldwide gulag system already - it becomes a strong likelihood that the thugs are not waiting for the vagaries of the law to play out, but are already Mengele-poisoning him. The reports of his current state from the few actually-honest, actually-principled people who are allowed to see him suggest this strongly. I can't see any other logical reason for someone as fundamentally harmless, non-violent, and non-dangerous as Julian being falsely imprisoned for an excessive term on the trumped-up 'bail violation' - hah! - charge, by obviously-corrupt judges, and then getting banged up in that foul place.
