    I see. Thanks. Perhaps I am dense sometimes and need to be given a simple narrative to to enable me to comprehend your point. The simpler the better : ).

    I think my main general point about the steel production, as I understand it, is that Chinese and Korean steel tend to be the cheapest. Add that to the fact that our government (for example) has no concern about the value of such an asset within (say) our communities then there will be a decline of this industry here. As an aside, British Steel was at it's peak during the oil boom when it was needed for the North Sea platforms etc. We were probably at the forefront technologically world-wide. Sadly, not any more. UK New Deal would remedy that somewhat if we were to take care of our crumbling infrastructure. At the same time we would need to be aware of the limits to growth and act accordingly. Just thinking aloud ... sorry : ).
