Good news for once, John! Good that you pursued this. @Si, I agree. The 'feelings' of journalists trump facts far too often ... and this should be reflected back to the attention of journalists, when and where possible. eg James Ball of The Guardian feels Assange is "a problematic arsehole" and gets a global platform to say so; another Guardian journalist feels he's "a turd" and shares that with a world audience, too: James Ball feels sick of people who say stuff he doesn't want to hear: : "Christ I'm sick of UN rapporteurs!" (Twitter)(sic). etc The feelings predominate: sometimes they are stated baldly, sometimes they are dramatised and/or wittily/snarkily described. Facts have a hard time surfacing for air in such seas of emotional feelings.
