I pointed out that the Guardian edition which announced the replacement of their plastic magazine wrapper with potato starch had 27 flight adverts, 7 cruise adverts, 2 car adverts and 2 beef adverts... We had a good chat in the pub afterwards and I made various suggestions about how they could raise more revenue by asking readers or philanthropic trusts to enable them to be high carbon advert free and suggested it could actually be a money earner for them, as an early market leader. Good work? I wonder how much war-fomenting, Russia-provoking, lying about Venezuela, smearing Julian Assange etc was disregarded when XR were tallying those adverts in their sample edition of the G!? Why the hell are reps from XR having cosy chats with the G and offering practical advise about raising funds in order that they can continue their business of war-mongering and destroying those seeking to expose the evil-doers? No doubt XR would argue that their main concern is carbon emissions and that other ills can be addressed later - but surely, leaving aside the slaughter and carnage of living creatures, the environmental impact of 'war' is something that ought to be high on XR's agenda.
