UK's three top newspapers to run identical front pages in solidarity with journalist Archived Message

Apologies, part of that sentence - about which country's journalists take a robust interest in media freedom - is wrong. One country's media shows solidarity for a journalist, another's media reveals a cowardly, boot-licking position.

Meduza Project journalist Ivan Golunov who faces up to 20 years in prison in apparent retaliation for his work."

US bot: "When did Assange become a journalist?"

A: "Since he began publishing truth about government. Journalism is an act, not an ordained elite circle of media figureheads."

UK keeps changing date and location of where the next Assange Extradition Hearing will take place - playing games in order to dilute protest turnout? Just seen false tweets saying it's on the 12th again? First it was to be at Belmarsh Prison, now it's changed to Westminster Magistrate's Court - for this Friday 14th. Supporters suggest meeting outside Buck Palace and walking to court. Consult Wikileaks pages, trusted supporters or Doughty Chambers

Assange's mother Christine Assange @AssangeMrs initially seemed on top of information and has give journalists (and people like Hunt) a run for their money on Twitter, with admirable bravery. But she's clearly under massive stress ("heartbroken"); her husband is now hospitalised for cancer and she reports herself not feeling well. Assange Snr, John Shipton, came to London to visit his son and had his visit blocked due to unexpected doctors' visits to Belmarsh medical ward.
A highly qualified, experienced expert working under the UN umbrella - accompanied by two medical professionals (one a psychiatrist) - calls for Assange's urgent relief and release.
This case is a foil that thows all kinds of calculating nastiness and rank hypocrisy into stark relief.
Not a good look for either the UK or the US - from the perspective of worldwide optics.
