This is pretty much as I thought. This confirms it. The Guardian has been brought in under the state's wing and is now seen as being allowed to be 'critical', but loyal. I think it signifies, the end of a 'free' liberal/left newspaper. It's still 'free' of course, but now it's accepted, all in the name of national security; sensible and responsible limits, like supporting someone like Assange.
