Jeremy Corbyn has questioned whether the government has "credible evidence" to show Iran is behind the attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Like with the Salisbury affair, he will likely abandon critical thinking and come round to the Establishment viewpoint in time. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said responsibility for Thursday's attack in the Gulf of Oman "almost certainly" lies with the Iranian regime. And of course in the phrase "almost certain" is his get out. It is politically expedient for the American empire and its vassals to manufacture consent amongst the public for any future conflict with Iran, for it to appear reasonable and unavoidable. But the Labour leader tweeted that there was no evidence for this. How charmingly naive of Corbyn to expect "evidence" in the current political climate. Mr Hunt responded that Mr Corbyn's comments were "pathetic" and said he should back British intelligence. Back British intelligence, but not the truth. It is the second time in the past few weeks that tankers appear to have been attacked in the region and comes amid escalating tension between Iran and the United States. A bit of a "twofor": attempt to keep oil prices from spiralling down, and appear to justify a future war with Iran. The US military released video footage which it said proved Iran was behind Thursday's attacks on the Norwegian and Japanese tankers - something Iran has categorically denied. I've seen more convincing footage to prove the existence of Santa Claus. (Anyone know of a cure for sarcasm!)
