"Obviously you think other culprits can be found (the public?)" Gasp! So you ARE saying there are no other culprits! Therefore you are saying it is ALL propaganda's fault. Good, thanks for clarifying what I already suspected. No, I don't think the "public" is the other culprit. I do not hate the public and I do not hate people. The culprit is The Human Heart. People have been fooled and baited throughout the ages, not because we are a stupid animal but because our hearts are selfish and cowardly. Love of God is the only cure, while love of money or security or Utopia is the fuel (for selfishness and cowardice). If you read my initial posts more carefully and honestly, you will see the logic of my rebuts. If propaganda is all to blame, then people are essentially good but acting on bad information. Therefore, all that's needed is good information. This is a ridiculous position, but then, so are all materialistic and atheist positions when you unravel them. "'and the whole thing can apparently be countered by: "...traditional structures that enhance integrity of community and the nurturing process...' whatever than means." Whatever that means?? Well, the bulk of human life pre-Industrial Capitalism. And I do not advocate a return to the past or a building of any system. All I try to do is help people think for themselves and defend the basic human values which are now being threatened with outright inversion and ultimate extinction. "Needless to say, in the face of a multi billion pound business whose object is framing or controlling the public narrative to sell the aforesaid needless murder and mayhem, it merely sounds like the usual pious waffle." Reforming the media is the most bafflingly naive position imaginable. Giving the people the 'right' information is the most condescending form of piety imaginable. Inspiring people to see the lies for themselves and to summon the courage to think independently and differently from the million ka-billion people all around them, well, that's what good teachers do, and that's what good friends do. I'm sure Caitlin is more or less onto that, but her headline and focus suggests she should lay off the materialist, romantic, and Marxist influences just a tad. turtleman
