Yes, you're right, many will give that knee-jerk reaction against crypto. I apologise if I was a little over-sensitive in my response.

Still, I hope to Antonopolous video will be seen by others.

Indeed, he's a good starting point for noobs, and has an infectious enthusiasm for the subject.

Myself,I've been involved in crypto for over five years (though not a fully-fledged geek!) and see many advantages and disadvantages, though the whole scene is constantly evolving. I'm lucky enough to have one extremely knowledgable friend in this sphere who is able to accurately inform a relative layman such as myself.

My main message to pass on is that if/when we are coralled into accepting government/corporate centralised digital currency, we are then very vulnerable to being trapped come any future financial crash. Recent legislation would allow banks to bail-in; removing what % they choose from
deposit holders, who would be very low down the list of creditors if too many High Street banks get into trouble. So if you physically hold an asset - such as cash, gold, silver - or the private keys of,say, a bitcoin wallet then you have sovereign control over your assets, rather than trusting a third party to deliver when you need it.

I'm not saying bitcoin is the answer, but one option to consider in a hedging strategy.
