The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where I worked many years ago, has a mission statement to promote the UK's interest overseas. If you believe that a free press, which this country has had for centuries, is valuable, then it follows that promoting a free press around the world helps spread British values. And that is in British interests.

Less well known is the fact that there are big, growing regions of the world that are reportorial black holes, because it is so dangerous for reporters to get in there. Think of parts of Syria, Yemen, and the Sahel

Obviously we can't expect this wretch to make the connection between the actual 'British values' that are spread abroad (neo-imperialism via headchoppers and organ eaters/wealth acquisition via arms supplies to murderous and despotic regimes etc) and the so called 'reportorial black holes'. Not that those places are wholly devoid of reportage - but since the Bartlets and Beeleys of the journalistic world do resolutely forge such connections they are to be ignored/discredited at every turn by shackled msm stenographers and paid liars.

Obvious point, I know - but there, I said it!
