The motion is supported by MPs Smeeth and Hodge and by LFI.

Here are some thoughts that have gone through my head in an attempt to make sense of this.

EDMs are just hot air, just an opportunity to virtue-signal, not intended for serious follow-up.

So this is all just a way to pretend that people, including Zionists, freely criticise Israel.

This is all fine because the issue isn't really "criticism of Israel" anyway, because any country can be criticised. The issue is really action against Israel, e.g. sanctions, which, everyone knows, will not happen, as it does speedily against Iran, Venezuela and Russia.

But on the other hand, I wonder:

Why are Zionists criticising Israel about an instance of home demolitions?
Demolition of Palestinians homes is a very usual practice by Israel. If you criticise one instance, then you are opening the door to criticising all demolitions and, further, the whole settler movement and, further, Israel's very essence (expansion through force and flouting of international law).

So, overall, I don't get what's going on here; so I'll welcome thoughts from others.
