| Yes, I read the same article. Erdogan is not that nice, and he's got some serious dictatorial tendencies, so one can't be but a little suspicious about most things he says or does, but I am pleased that he seems to be distancing himself and his country from a blind subservience to Nato and the US. He's in a very vulnerable country, in a very vulnerable area and he's showing a bit of political wisdom in keeping the greater powers guessing a bit - at arms length, literally!! But it's to be hoped too that he can ensure his country's economy and society and politics can also be made robust and independent at the same time, including some fair treatment for his Kurdish people (That's rather unlikely though) . Time will tell I suppose. |
