    But we've already heard that Israeli settlements in the West Bank are seen as illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this.


    So it would be difficult to then say, it's because they are colonies of an occupying power built on stolen land and that the indigenous occupants are being pushed out by force both naked and clothed... you can't say that because it would question the already stated background, that whether "the colonies are illegal" or not, or even "seen as" illegal, is controversial. Yet it's only controversial if you exclude truth from your decision-making criteria. The list of statistics and "balanced" he-says-she-says "dispute" description which follows, claiming to answer the question only serves to divert attention away from the actual answer.
