I hope - though I'm less confident - that a world free of any imperialism is now likely, as he suggests. Somehow, I find it difficult to imagine any strand of humanity not succumbing to the foetid temptations of imperialism, once the kaleidoscope of historical nappenstance throws a clear opportunity into their laps. Maybe one day, but hom sap still has some evolution to do yet, before we become that Vulcan, by innate, evolved nature. And anyway, there was always a scattering of Vulcans even aboard the 'Enterprise' - hah! - and its sister ships - bringing 'peace', 'freedom', 'democracy' and 'prosperity' to the inferior benighteds with funny head make-up, but otherwise perfectly standard 20thC USAmerican bodies (no tentacles, as far as I remember; and everyone - but Picard and the token Russian spoke standard USAmerican English - natch). The temptation never goes away, apparently. But then, 'Startrek' was always written by USAmericans - or facsimiles - from the first, so that would be an obvious - imperialist - assumption for them.
