the anti-hate zealots. The modern left... anti-hate zealots?: people who object to hatreds of various kinds are the enemy? seriously? I find the whole notion of "hatred" without cause pretty absurd. Most "hatred" is deliberately culturally/tribally induced: usually by means of the family. For example in some parts of Scotland there is a xenophobic hatred of Catholicism: something born from the Reformation but kept alive long past its "sell by..." date by means of societal privilege and whose wider aim is one of "divide and conquer". "...The modern left, in other words.." Well it really again depends what you mean by "the left". If you mean as I suspect the US Democrats / UK Parliamentary Labour party, I don't reckon these to be "the Left" in any way whatsoever. They are just Capitalist-believing (& capitalist financed) social Democrats who indulge in identity politics as a way of avoiding real change, because real change would mean revolutionising both the financial system and taxation, which of course being capitalist believers, they refuse to do. So your "left"is actually my "right": a capitalist dressed as a fluffy kitten wandering down a cul de sac...
