Solidarity with Julian Assange Archived Message

Below are details of an important event, I think, from the World Socialist Web Site (wsws).

I still despair that there does not appear to be a robust and active 'Free Julian Assange' campaign in Britain - perhaps partly because of the Labour Party's reticence in speaking out against the cruel and unjust treatment of our most high-profile political prisoner:

World-renowned bassist, singer and songwriter Roger Waters will perform his iconic Pink Floyd song “Wish You Were Here” in London on September 2 in solidarity with Julian Assange.

The performance will take place at 6pm on Monday in front of the office of British Home Secretary Priti Patel on Marsham Street, London. The event includes the demands “Defend Freedom of Speech” and “Don’t Extradite Assange.”

John Pilger, award-winning investigative journalist and documentary film maker, will also speak.

The WSWS calls for the widest participation and support for the concert and rally to defend freedom of speech and stop the extradition of Julian Assange to the US.

Please help by spreading the word on social media and by alerting friends, family and others you might know in the UK to attend this important event.

    Monday September 2nd, 6pm
UK Home Office, 2 Marsham Street London,
SW1P 4F (nearest tube is Westminster)

    Many thanks,
    WSWS Team
