    I think he's mistaken about one thing: vast re-forestation can indeed make a crucial difference to the climate crisis - on its own; and the fossil-hydrocarbon splurge burn is already well on the way to resolving itself, whether we help or not, by inexorably-decreasing availability, and fatally-decreasing EROEI (qv).

    The vid also says little about the relative productivity of cleared land for stock-rearing (poor) and self-regenerating forest for multiple useful products, including - though not limited to - lots more food than the cleared land can produce. Sic! Forest Permaculture is demonstrating that in numerous pioneering places, at the hands of skilled veteran practitioners. (And even then, as Martin Crawford demonstrates at the Agroferestry Research Trust woodland, at Dartington, Devon, it's only necessary to put in fifty days' work per year to get it). This can be the future of both farming and Earth conservation - if we can raise the gumption to do it:
