Thanks Mary, had fallen off my radar a bit. Yes, v. worrying development but maybe predictable as it's the one site where they managed to get a successful flow test from the Kimmeridge limestones. David Smythe has argued that this was due to hitting a fault line where oil had pooled, thus not being representative of the formation as a whole (and likely to dry up quickly). Re: reducing imports, I had the opportunity to ask Caroline Lucas about this once and her reply was that it was BS (not her words) because any oil recovered will get sold immediately on the international markets, presumably to the highest bidder.
