When you read the story of Snowden's flight from US, via HongKong to Russia, you realise Julian Assange was the key to his safe asylum. Assange foresaw problems, worked out how best to help him. He sent his girlfriend at the time - Wikileaks staffer Sarah Harrison - over to physically assist Snowden. She gave up weeks of her time essentially guarding and guiding Snowden = who was earmarked to go to Ecuador but ended up inadvertantly in Russia, which turned out to be safe for him. Harrison (from what I understand?) is now in exile outside the UK, too scared to ever return lest she suffers a similar fate to Assange. Snowden has much to thank Assange for - yet he barely seems to? Glenn Greenwald got a lot of glory (and wrote a book) out of his meeting up with Snowden in Hong Kong and 'getting' the Snowden files, but - sadly - the Snowden Leaks have ended up in the bottom drawer of billionare insider Pierre Omidyar's private filing cabinet. One of the significant Snowden Leaks that did make it into the public domain (I think I am correct in remembering this? fact needs double-checking) was the Stratfor email proving that the US started developing its long-term strategy to 'take down' Assange as early as 2010. Previous Message Stratfor email on Assange's arrest (2010): @wikileaks Stratfor email: "Pile on. Move him from country to country to face various charges for the next 25 years. But, seize everything he and his family own, to include every person linked to Wiki." https://wikileaks.org/gifiles/docs/1
