The message you're relaying here is pretty well de rigour on these Lifeboat News pages. Basically you're saying it's a Hobson's choice in regard to the two main parties? But there is a Green Party and a New Democratic Party, they'd both be rather more progressive, I believe. So one could vote for either of these parties. But if it's going to be Liberal or Conservative who are elected , which is going to be preferable to you?
I am well aware that liberalism isn't socialism, it's an alternative to outright conservative and very right wing thinking. I think we know this. After all, the most extreme right wing policies come under the monica "neo-liberalism" If you followed my contributions, you'd know I am a Corbyn supporter, so you're preaching to the wrong person.
I'd have to agree that I am arguing from a point of ignorance on Canadian politics, but I believe politics in New Zealand isn't that dissimilar and I do know about this. It was the Labour party here in the 1980s who introduced the most regressive neoliberal reforms anywhere on the planet, but I'd still support Labour over the alternative, and the Greens (I am a paid member of the Greens) here have become worryingly etiolated in their contribution to the present NZ coalition. . But I can't imagine that a conservative government generally will be more progressive than a liberal one? But there you are, what do I know?
What you're asking for is much more fundamental and progressive and revolutionary. Fine, but I don't for the moment see this in Canada or anywhere else for this matter, except in individuals like Corbyn, whose biggest job is to have to fight those nominally on his own side. So to those contributing to this site who reside in the UK your first job is to do whatever you can to support Corbyn and his return to a more directive Government and fairer economy, both socially and environmentally. Canadians will have to find someone of their own who promises the same thing.
