Perhaps Harry and Meghan are genuinely becoming aware of causes worth pursuing - viz Harry planting Baobabs in Africa and talking about safe elephant corridors and Meghan talking about empowering women. Their problem is that from where they stand - embedded in an entitled system that's profited by extracting wealth from colonies but that refuses to discuss/address economic inequality - the two of them will always be handicapped and judged. Being an American movie star, Meghan has the added burden of being seen to crave/seek photo opportunities and wanting to be seen as hip, 'woke' and cutting edge. Her eagerness and her clueless PR team lead her to make faux pas of the type we saw in RSA. If they've learned anything from their South African 'tour', we won't in future see Princess Meghan step out in designer footwear to hand Archie's used baby clothes to Native Americans in the old Indian Reservations or to Aboriginal people in the outback, expecting them to be grateful for her philanthropic 'wokeness'. Too many people - however inferior or 'stupid' they appear in their rags - have awoken to that lark.
