my trip to Syria Archived Message

    Hi guys,

I'm off to Syria for the third time on November 5th and I'm going alone this time as my partner in crime and co-ed of BSNews, Mike Raddie, is settling into his new life in Ireland. I'm going back to Damascus, then heading north to Salamiyah where I will spend 4 days with a Syrian family who have a son in the army - he will be there as I have coordinated the trip with his leave.

Then I head north again to Aleppo where I will meet up with another Syrian army soldier and also visit the amazing Pierre le Corf's education projects and animal shelters. Please youtube Pierre if you don't know him, he was in Aleppo all through the worst fighting and his reports are compelling. I'l also report on the progress being made to rebuild Aleppo and how the city is coming back to life.

After this I will head down to Tartous where I will meet up with Syrian friends and hoefully visit a college to meet the students, then I will head south again to Damascus.

Because I don't speak Arabic I have had to engage a guide/driver/translator recommended to me by Eva Bartlett and he will meet me in Beirut.

Last year Mike and I were in Damascus when F/UK/US bombed and I wrote about it from there for The Morning Star. The rest of our reports are in our Dispatches From Damascus series on BSNews as is our interview with Fares Shehabi from our visit in 2017.

Mike and I do not allow any advertising on our news site so that we remain absolutely independent and so I'm crowdfunding.

I'd be very grateful for any help, but please don't donate if you're struggling for money. You could share it perhaps and that would be enough. Thank you. Here's the link: https://fundrazr.com/91YZV9?ref=ab_c8QRI4
