It helpfully advises any MP troubled by conscience or constituents how to stonewall any questions on Julian Assange:

We appreciate that some members of the public feel very strongly about Mr Assange’s situation but it is important to remember that Australia cannot intervene in the legal processes of another country.”
One answer to fit any question, it seems. Is his treatment torture? We cannot intervene... .
More broadly it shows what a sham the representation concept is, when MPs get told what to say in advance.
Many years ago I remember having the misfortune to attend two meetings where different Labour MPs answered a question on climate change and gave identical answers: "It strikes me....that what really matters is what China does". Odd how this just seemed to 'strike' every Labour MP simultaneously. Well not every one at that time George Galloway was the only one who refused to carry a pager.
