Murdoch has obviously forgiven BLiar's dalliance with Wendy Deng (alleged!) as he has given houseroom to BLiar in the Times. He is obviously a remainer. Remember when he tried to become President of the EU?

OK, last chance: do we really think leaving the EU will help?

The Letwin amendment gives us time for final reflection. We need it. Lost in all the noise, with the government hoping the atrophying mandate of June 2016 and Brexit fatigue push parliament to support a deal that a year ago MPs would have denounced, is that big-picture question: why are we doing Brexit?

Yes, I know we’re doing it because we voted for it. But what have we learnt from the past 40 months about the wisdom of it?

For sure, it’s a huge distraction. Indeed, the argument of Boris Johnson is “get it done” so we can return to the important issues. Of all the government announcements as an election looms, which, if any, depend on Brexit?

Of course, he slips in the word “other” important issues to cover himself. But, whether it’s the NHS, taxes, education, defence, crime or the environment, all the big decisions are taken in Britain, not Brussels. We decide if we have austerity or ditch it.

There are yards more of it.
